Great theme! But I can’t make it work with thumbnails via the custom field. I add the field to posts, but the thumbnails never appear in the feature bar. Any more documentation?

This theme can only pull out pictures pre-resized to 200×120 px for the thumbnails. It is a bit cheesy… Can anyone make this function better to pull out the thumbnails for any pictures we posted?
problem occured! Firstly I think it’s a great theme! But I can’t get run perfecetly. no pictures shown in the slide bar(the red box); no artical s hown in the furtured columns;no slidebar buttons instead of two wrong icons with a link named “http://tinyurl.com/6cccum” Waiting for help!!!TKS
I too had problems with thumbnails not showing and found the solution on the Wordpress.org forums:

As per the author of the theme, “You only had to enter the name of the image.
In your case, enter the value as evridge instead of evridge.jpg. Because jpg extension is predefined on the theme.”
This worked for me. Also, keep in mind that you can embed other larger pictures into the posts themselves and use an entirely different thumbnail (as you see in the “Batman” post in the Preview of the theme). Thumbnail is one picture, but there is a different picture in the post body. The thumbnail should be 200×120 px, but a larger picture can be added to the post itself without affecting the thumbnail. Just make sure the 200 x 120 thumbnail is named in the “homethumb” custom field.
It’s the best of both worlds, actually.
As for the red bar, you won’t see all your categories show up until you put a post into them.
Example: If you have several categories like “Sports - Entertainment - Politics - Technology - Business” and you only have posts in “Sports” and “Politics”, those are the only ones that will show up. Once you have a post in each category, they will all show. Also, don’t forget to create a “featured” category and edit the “glide.php” file so your Headlines section knows which categories to pull from.
These points solved my problems with this theme (which I am running on WP 2.6.2). I will keep an eye on this forum for a few days to see if there are any other questions. Hope this helps!
to see the thumbnail do the following (sorry for my spelling)
1) click on the pics and open it’s properties
2) check the URL of the pic and copy just :
if this is the the URL:
wordpress-he/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/audi_q5_main.jpg
copy: 2008/09/audi_q5_main
past that into the Custom field value (leave the key as “homethumb”)
that’s it the thumb will be posted.

Hey, look what I have found! I just tried it again and found out that suddenly it can pull out thumbnails even from big pictures within my posts automatically in jpg format?! Only in jpg format I have tried to success.
Let me see… The “Thumbnail size” setting from the “Miscellaneous” tab is set to 200×120 with a tick in the “Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)” box, wonder whether this affects it too?

I would like to ask for some help. I just installed the theme at http://movietrailers123.com, but can’t get everything to work. I can among other things, not get of the blogposts into the red “header.”
I can’t get anything in the “headlines today”. At the same time, I do not get the video I’ve added to it’s own category “videos”, to appear above the sidebar.
I have followed the setup guide 100%. As you can see on the front of the blog I linked to above, I have a separate post in the “videos” category and another entry in the “featured” category. The post still does not appear where they should appear.
Anyone have any idea what my problem might be? All help is very mutch appreciated

Hey guys I’m a bit confused, is the point of the thumbnail bar just to show the images? I thought it was supposed to be clickable links to take you to the stories accompanying the image?

Just a note that may help someone else: I found out that if you are running the lightbox plugin then your arrows will not show up for the slider nor will the TODAY’s HEADLINES Glider work.

How do you get the second row that scrolls from the bottom to the top to change posts. I just get the same latest post scrolling over and over again. Hmmm….
The scrolling box is controlled by six categories. You have to set them, directions are somewhere in the theme.

Awesometemplate. I have everything up and working no problem. The pdf help you put in was very helpful. One item hopefully someone can help me one.
For the feature part (Right above headline) not sure if that is the glide, but what I would like to do is show more than one featured. I have four postings under the feature section, but it only shows the most recent one. What do I change so it shows the last 4 postings under featured.

My default install of this theme is horribly broken in Internet Explorer IE6. It looks fine in Firefox.
Are there know coding errors in the code I need to fix for Internet “Exploder?”
Video - did you set up a Video Category ? when you made a post and embedded your video, did you check the video category ? I created a post with nothing in it except for the title and the code for the video and it worked perfectly. hope this helps. I was using zinmag but just switched to dailyplanet (same guys)

I said to myself - “If this works - I will tell others about it” In short after spending 2hours trying to figure out why my videos were turning into “links” I came across this plugin http://topwpthemes.com/page/2/
I would recommend downloading the ‘Viper’ plugin and change the settings to 295 px “Remove the tick - Keep Ratio etc” ie: Make sure the width says 295px

I have been receiving so many emails everyday regarding support request and customization requests for my zinmag series themes. I have found some support requests for this theme posted on wordpress forums as well. I have tried to answer maximum of the requests, but if I try to answer each and every request it will eat up a major part of my day.
So I have setup a forum with categorized sections for each magazine themes I have released. I request my theme users to post their support related queries there so that i can provide a centralized assistance in this matter. I am trying to use your theme for our photography website, but I’m having problems with the text. It’s not staying at the bottom of the post, or where we put it in the post, it comes up to the right hand side of the images we use in the post.

Awesome theme. Just implemented it on my new Lance Armstrong site, still tweaking it but for the most part it’s looking good. Best wordpress theme I have ever come across!

Also one tip on using the theme that might be helpful. I created a custom field called “shorttitle” in the metadata for each post so i can create alternate titles that look good and don’t get cut off in the slider on top and the smaller boxes (~50 char max). This way you can still have longer more descriptive titles in the normal post that are easier to read and better for seo!
re David Lindner: I think I had a similar problem to you, fixed it by just putting a div with a style “clear:both” before the “singleinfo” div.
I just implemented this them on my new Campaign-Promises blog. Great look and I like how everything is laid out. I have had some difficulty with the thumbnail images like others on here, but just keep trying different things and for some reason can get most of them to work.
The two arrows for the top red slider has gone off today, and if you read the javascript source, there is a line which I think probably is for these images to show:
defaultbuttons: {enable: true, moveby: 2, leftnav: [’http://tinyurl.com/67o6qp’, -36, 70], rightnav: [’http://tinyurl.com/6cccum’, 0, 70]},
But if you copy the links and go for the URLs, the redirect URLs for the images are both dead.
I think that is the problem. But where can we save and host the images on our own site?
This is THE most awesome theme. It has a short learning curve and gives great results.
For the lost arrows, I was able to snag one before it was completely gone and saved it to my hard disk. I named it alpha.jpg. Then I made a mirror of it and named it omega.jpg.
I uploaded both to the images directory of futura, and in the slider.php, changed the tinyurl addresses to the address in my image folder online.
In other words for http://tinyurl.com/67o6qp it was changed to http://mysite.com/wp-content/themes/futura/images/alpha.jpg. Then I saved and uploaded the slider.php and its perfect!

As to the thumbnails showing. Here’s what I do.
1. create an image that is 200 x 120.
2. save it as xxxxxxxthumb.jpg
3. When I have completed writing my post and inserting pics I want for that post, I click to add media and upload the xxxxxxxthumb.jpg, but do not insert it in the post. I just save it.
4. then I scroll down and in the Custom Fields I type in homethumb and put xxxxxxthumb WITHOUT the .jpg.
5. Save, publish and it shows up every time.

There are many problems in this temple. This template is too nice to see but there are many bugs. Here I have some :-
-Uses tinyurl redirect in arrow button in featured slide bar which is not working now. May be it’s deleted fro the server.
-footer.php is decrypted which makes me go crazy.
-desn’t works fine in IE 6.
-Previous posts and Next posts links are too dark that they can’t bee seen
These are the problems that I saw but other complaints like slide not working etc are your mistake. So, please read the instruction nicely.
I loved this template a lot but these drives everyone crazy.
I found a fix for the way this looks at some resolutions in IE (when the sidebars break and fall down to bottom) I added 10px to wrapper and header (The Top) widths in stylesheet. So it is 1010px not 1000px (only 2 places to change). It worked not only for sidebar but my posts come up with right color bkg now, too! Only problem left in IE is previews not coming out side by side.

Thanks, bestnick, for the IE fix. I applied the 1010px fix. It fixed the bottom right sidebar (brought it back up into correct position) and gave the correct background color in the page in IE6, but the bottom left sidebar still drops down. I compared your css with mine and can’t see a darn thing different in width stuff, but I can see your site perfectly in IE6. Go figure!
At least now my site is readable in IE6.

I did try that. Went all the way to 1030px and no good still. Seems fine in IE7 so I’ll just leave it as is.

MY QUESTION is, Any idea why my zinmag futura button is all the way at the top just above the video, it should be down at the right hand corner, and it is making everything all misaligned - is it the ‘head.jpg’ that is maybe missing. PLease have a look at my site and help me out if you can.

I’ve been using this theme without having any problem since September. It may seem a little bit complicated (but it is not). This is because Futura is different from the others. However, they explain what you should do on their websites. Please read it carefully.

PB1: headline & slide not working!
Answer: don’t have to upload only images 200×150 as someone said. just be sure you have a category with the ’slug’ featured. What i have done is: opened slide.php, glide.php and featured.php and replaced the name=featured with name=my-category. everything is workink nice!
PB2: in mozilla, category arhives where looking bad..so..i opened style.css and at line 422 i added: ‘ clear:both; ‘

GREAT looking theme, but TONS of bugs fixes needed for it to work right.
@ 3dee — The only thing on your home page that I see is “Popular” which is not the most recent posts, it’s the most popular ones. You need to add the recent posts widget to the home page.
@ niz — You’re missing some files, try re-uploading everything as instructed.
@ hal — Reintstall the plugin — your database is missing required tables for it to work.
@ zawadi — There is a closing tag missing in the index.php template within the loop, so it’s pulling the link from the previous post. Adding the closing tag will fix it.

I have since downloaded the zip file four times and re-uploaded it about six times and it still appears this way.
If it just needs some content to fix itself up i’ll work on it. But if it’s screwed up for some reason i don’t want to spend hours trying to fix it when i probably won’t be able too.

Great theme! It makes for a great real estate website/blog. I only have two questions…
1. Is there anyway to disable the dropdown menu and/or make it so that pages tat are made private do not have private written on them. I added some mortgage calcultors, and they don’t sho up well on the dropdown menus.
2. Could I pay for the rights to remove the branding and link to this website? I would prefer to make it a little difficult for real estate professionals who like my website (and the way I implimented this theme) from emulating me.
Although I have a few bugs that I know I’ll eventually figure out on this thing, I did however figure out why the thumbnails weren’t showing up. It’s simple. The theme was designed to NOT have a domain that had a sub file. For example, if you have http://www.keneynon.com/wordpress/wp-admin/images/something.jpg, the theme that is downloaded actually doesn’t have the sub file “wordpress” in it. You have to go through all the files and find the /wp-admin/ and add /wordpress/ before /wp-admin/. So that it will property distribute the pictures. Easy fix….just lacked a little sleep while trying to figure it out.
My problem right now is that I can’t seem to get the home page to look normal. It seems to have some missing boxes to the right. I emailed the Web Geeks who designed it but haven’t gotten a response back yet. Hoping to hear from them. This script is otherwise pretty slick and I’m looking forward to using it.

How come there are no text boxes for the information i am loading onto my page. Im typing in text but i doesn;t show up anywhere. Also, i cant seem to get a calendar to appear?

This is a great theme. I just install it and i am still testing it. But I get an error message. It is:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_camulus_insert() in

I have fixed the problem above. My video is not displaying. The tag cloud could not display in Firefox but does in IE.
