Guys, e-storage wordpress theme have been nominated in a contest and therefore, e-storage version 2 with additional plug and play features ( e-storage plus ) was born. Hello Roger, I have been using this template for 2weeks and I manage to tweak most of the codex. However the link “PREVIOUS ENTRIES” in the main page doesn’t function and the links “PREVIOUS ENTRY and “NEXT ENTRY” on post are missing. I have sent the query to you using the URL you mentioned above and I hope you are able to help me. Thank you.
Woken, this theme have been fix to have 3 columns on main landing page and 2 columns on all subpages. I’m using the command to display the latest posts on main landing page ( off course, you have the option to fix how many posts to be display ). You can put a link “All Entries” in the main page and point it to archieve ( an example in email ).
Richard, thank you. Please advise further your requirement via http://www.zinruss.com/themes/contact-us. I’m looking forward to assisting you through your growth and business development in any way i can.
This theme is kind of BS. A lot of the images are pulled in from themes.zinruss.com; they’re not hosted on your site. So that means your site depends on his. If his site goes down, your site looks like sh!t. This also allows him to track your sites performance as well as who visits your site.
I’d use this theme only if it did not depend on images from another site. It’s also easy to see some of the obfuscated code. For example just run:
$> php footer.php
on a linux command line to see the code. It’s just base64_encoded. Just run base64_decode on the string and you can see what it looks like.
Jamie, images pulled from my high specs dedicated server in canada does not allow me to track who visit your site. Please pay attention before giving false claims. The license for all our themes is http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/ and i am aware of some “designers” rip off our themes in the past few months, claimed something that they have no relationship or even resell the design to company. This is unfair and i am talking about consumer rights. I spent around 4 business days to create this premium theme and released it for free. Additional, i’m providing one on one free support via skype if anyone need my help to customize the theme. What i really hope is appreciation from blog owners, not increasement of rip off themes.
I am not sure what happened today, but, I was using this theme and the server couldnt find the page. I checked the zinruss.com website, it too was down….so it appears that what Jamie said might actually have some truth to it. some of the pictures, not sure which, it has to be pictures from the theme but not the sites screenshots…some of the themes images are pulled from the zinruss.com website - and if their site is down, then so will be whoever uses this theme.
I didnt know that this theme depended on someone elses site (other than my own) being up. what a bummer.
i checked many times throughout the day if the zinruss.com site was back up…no luck, so i had to switch themes or else my site would be just a blank white page that took forever to try to connect to the (apparently zinruss.com server)….no luck.
i checked again, and now the zinruss.com (makers of this theme website) is already up….and so i guess i can change back to this theme if i wanted…but whats to say that the zinruss.com server wont go down again….and there goes my site again….
I think it would be best to stick to a theme that depends only on your server being up…and not for people to have to depend on the zinruss.com server to be up.
this is a bummer. the theme is cool but if it doesnt work all the time..and your site is down, all the pretty stuff is pointless.
Is there a way to work around this and have the images that are pulled from the zinruss.com server just pull from my own server?????
Please let me know. I would really like to use this theme, but, am afraid to.
Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
Dont get me wrong, the theme works pretty great - except that if you add more widgets on the sidebar, the color theme widget disappears and becomes unusable. Cant a color just be picked and for that to be the default? if so would i have to change the orange default color image with a photo editor then upload the image again ? Please let me know.
I am sure there has to be a way to be able to host all theme images on my own server…..let me know how please.
The plug and play style sheet switcher enable your visitors to switch between 20 pre-made color schemes with a single click. The default color scheme is orange and the images come with the theme zip file. The rest 19 color schemes images store on my high spec dedicated server. You can disable the swich color schemes function in sidebar.php if you don’t want to want to allow your visitors to switch colors. The option is there. Please double check. One more thing. The style sheet switcher use the orange scheme by default and your site should be working even my site is down ( hardware upgrade or server reboot ). In other word, the theme will not pull the rest color schemes images from my server if your visitors don’t click on the change colors function. Please let me know your url. It would be my pleasure to guild you in the same fashion as i have guild my clients.
One other question…if you dont mind. When I add a widget to the sidebar through the admin panel for wordpress, this makes the sidebar with the Color Scheme, Featured News and Featured Video not appear on the sidebar.
How do I fix this? Does this mean that if I add additional widgets on the sidebar the ones listed above wont work?
Anyone know how to fix this? So that I can use the above and also add more widgets to the sidebar…
Hey Roger. Let me just say that this theme is BRILLIANT! By far the best I have ever seen. It is particularly perfect for artists, and I’m going to be merging it with gallery.menalto and other image scripts to make it my company portfolio website. This has saved me a bundle and a lot of time. Thank you again!
To those complaining about the complexity of this theme: I’d hate to say it but that’s kind of the trade-off. If you really want a theme THIS nice, then you’re going to be expected to know a touch of coding to edit it PERFECTLY to your tastes. I mean, you can’t really expect something this brilliant for free and have it be so simple to edit. However, Roger is being extremely kind in offering advice for editing the template for free as well. So I’m not saying that if you don’t know coding you should ignore this theme either. It’s quite an impressive work of art and is definitely worth giving a try. That being said though, if you aren’t script friendly at all and get lost easily, I would apt for something simpler than this.
Anyhoo, fantastic job Roger! I appreciate all the work you put into this.
Quoting Fluffy “If you really want a theme THIS nice, then you’re going to be expected to know a touch of coding to edit it PERFECTLY to your tastes. I mean, you can’t really expect something this brilliant for free and have it be so simple to edit.”
Such confidence made me curious enough to check out results of Fluffy’s customization given her knowledge of coding and script friendliness….
But, was disappointed that there has been no customization done as of yet on Fluffys site other than just change the Name on the Header.
Does anyone know how to change the default colour from the default orange to another colour ie DodgerBlue and then also remove the option of colour change from the sidebar so that the user cannot change this option.
I have been playing around with this for quite a while and I have managed to alter the front index.php page layout from a two column to a one column layout, however when you then change to any other colour this reverts back to a two column layout within the index.php page. Is fixing the colour to another colour possible ? I have tried to remove the colour change option but everytime I do this I get script code errors. Any help appreciated as other than these issues this template is exactly what I need.
Can someone please tell me where the instructions are for the Plug and Play Slider and the color schemes? I installed the template but these things did not show up. I’m assuming I must have to do something to make that happen. I see that these things are supposed to be plugnplay, but do I have to get them from somewhere and install the plugin before these things will work?
Is there a page already in the theme for this or is it a custom? The part I’m talking about is double column of boxes for the posts on the left side. I love it and I haven’t seen a template page for it in the theme.
I might be missing this stuff because I tried using it on an existing site. Perhaps one needs to use this for a new site instead?
Absolutely love it! Great job and thank you so much for offering it for free. You are gifted and have thought of everything. I did find changing the code hard, but that’s simply because I’m dim witted when it comes to php but I got through it! The only thing I still can’t figure out is how to change the advertise and contact pages or linky thingabobs. lol. I will perservere.
Ultimately a fantastic blog, very high tech and modern looking. This is me “singing your praises” and anyone who says differently really doesn’t realize what they are getting for FREE (high quality). Tiny slap on the wrist of the nay sayers. Yeah, I mean you. lol.
1. Will it be easy to remove the color switcher? I prefer to have a set look.
2. I will be greatly modifying the overall look of this theme to fit a concept I have in mind. Is it possible to change the footer so that it still has a link to you, but specifically states the them has been customized for the blog I plan to use it on, such as:
E-Storage+ theme designed by Web Hosting Geeks and Customized for ThisSite.com
OMG. I cannot believe how many of the components of this template are dependent on Zinruss.com. The basic automatically rotates and the pre-made color schemes. These are simply scripts that are freely distributed from other JavaScript website. On one of the comments, the author said you can disable these but what he did not say is that disabling this script will mess up some of the tables and make the template looks horrible.
One question for the author is that why is he hiding the basic JavaScript from the end-user of this script? Is it that he may be illegally claiming ownership for these scripts?
I will be taking down this spam template out of my site as soon as I find another template that suits my need. Even word press do not ties it script the way this author did.
I have been using this template for 2weeks and I manage to tweak most of the codex. However the link “PREVIOUS ENTRIES” in the main page doesn’t function and the links “PREVIOUS ENTRY and “NEXT ENTRY” on post are missing. I have sent the query to you using the URL you mentioned above and I hope you are able to help me. Thank you.
For those who need support, please kindly drop me a msg on http://www.zinruss.com/themes/contact-us. Sometime it may take up to a few business days for me to responce due to overwhelming requests and i appologize for any inconvenience caused.
Tina, as i said before, i am talking about consumer rights and i am not claiming something that i have no relationship to. The javascript author’s url is still on the javascript code. Please do a complete research before you file a false claim.
I’m not a newbie on coding, programming and seo. I knew what is going on. I’m really tired on rip off themes ( i can simply show you more than 10 of my themes have been ripped and published on wordpress official themes site ). The main reason i put partially of the files on my dedicated servers is to communicate with those who REALLY use this theme, not those who try to RIP IT OFF AND SELL. What do you feel if someone sell you a stolen car?
darryl, i knew jinson ( author of Zinmag Futura theme ) very well. E-storage plus have no relationship with Zinmag Futura. Both are unique and the source code is completely different.
I never noticed that change to the terms and conditions. It’s a good job you’re on the ball as it’s easy to get caught out by stuff like that. Thanks so much - Richard
I agree that there is too much to do and too little time to do it in the area of social recreation software. As we see there are plenty of social networks, video/photo sharing or bookmarking websites out there.
I think it comes down to personal need or how 37Signals might term it “Perceived Personal Value”. Or the classic case of just “Is this worth it to me”. Just like you I have my personal list of apps I use such Basecamp, Digg, Backpack etc. Mainly though because I have a need for them or they serve a higher priority to me in one way or another.
There are no shortage of people in the world and what we’re seeing with these new web apps is a reflection of that. Everyone has particular interests and different tastes, they will gravitate toward the services that suit them and their lifestyle the best.
I see the future of web apps moving toward niche apps solving large but specific problems that are important to people. More important for example than say finding the hottest tech news on the internet at a given moment. Web apps that solve problems and that affect many people personally, not just providing an entertainment outlet.
Like you say we have a million things to do during the day and little time to do much else, the list of web services we use and their priority will be a direct reflection of how we feel they serve us personally and our lifestyle.
“I believe there is a huge market for more web apps that are aimed at users like me. We’ve got specific problems that need to be solved and we’re willing to pay good money for solutions.”
Couldn’t agree with you more.
We’re building what we call a “Lifestyle Management” app here at SugarStats which is basically a web 2 app that help Diabetics manage their blood sugar levels online, Diabetic Analytics as we call it. Now this isn’t in the realm of social networking or online entertainment, but people with diabetics have a specific purpose for this and it is a big problem that affects many. It may not be of interest to those people who spend their days drinking 2 gallons of coke and eating fast food, but to the potentially 70 million people with this problem it might hit a little harder home. (being that the latest news says 1 in every 3 (1/3!) Americans have diabetes or are pre-diabetic).
And I’m seeing this trend more and more, web apps that focus on specific problems outside of small business management or only tech released. Apps like ours that affect peoples health or some other apps that services the educational market, travel markets and niche arena’s etc.
So I think at the end of the day, the people exposed to them and find value for them in their own lives will use social software. As long as their are those people more and more apps will come out to feed that market, but eventually its going to level out as people settle down with what works for them the best. So I too feel that things have only just begun, those are my 2 cents.
[…] Chiming in on an ever expanding meme (which Stowe Boyd nicely wraps up here), I’d like to pose some theoretical rebuttals to Ryan Carson’s “Why I don’t use Social Software“. Carson’s point is essentially twofold - he doesn’t have the time to invest in social software, and he doesn’t really have the inclination because social software doesn’t have much outcome on his day-to-day. Stowe boils it down to the classic argument he takes issue with (and I agree) - many hold a near positivist bias towards the need for utility in social software. Indeed - social software has utility (and deep utility at that), but the notion of social transcends utility. […]
Email marketing is not the prettiest thing in the world, and much of Web 2.0 is about moving beyond email for communication with constituents - but a person can’t live on kool aid alone and Amigo is an interesting development. While I try to get all my email newsletters through a tool like SocialMail so they end up as RSS feeds, obviously most people do not. Amigo doesn’t appear to offer RSS feeds, it doesn’t use tags and generally avoids most buzz words so familiar to readers of this blog; company co-founder Ryan Carson recently wrote a widely read piece titled Why I don’t use social software - primarily, he doesn’t believe it fills a real need. I know RSS and in many cases tags fill a very real need for me, but I’m someone comfortable with redirecting email to a feed so perhaps it’s no big deal. […]
I found myself helping my husband with his blog and being technical I got sucked into the whole thing…. including the social network aspect… which took me away from my actual career (I was only helping out). I put myself on myspace as a way to quitely promote my husband and found that I was now obligated to correspond with hundreds of people. I would then check into mybloglog (or similar) only to find that people have left me messages there as well. I was finding that I wasn’t even able to see what was going on in the world because I was waisting more time and energy checking into each site… ironically only to find out that there were more sites that I should be a part of!
I think Tom’s right, but the problem is that I just don’t have time to use all of these amazing apps, ..”
Ryan, it’s not that Tom’s right BUT you just don’t have time, etc. It’s that Tom’s right BECAUSE you (and all of us) don’t have time to use these apps. You’re not contradicting him, you’re supporting his point; you don’t need a “but” there.
And I’m confused by this: “I believe there is a huge market for more web apps that are aimed at users like me.” Wait…do you have time to explore these new services or not? Or are you really arguing that this is largely a marketing problem–that these apps *do* have value, but to niche groups, and that *your particular* niche group hasn’t been well-served yet? I think in general social software would be better by being much more targeted (this is sort of Ning’s idea, btw.), but it’s hard to imagine a group that’s been better marketed to than YOU personally, Ryan.
And also, perhaps instead of asking six other experts who are essentially identical to you (white men in the social software industry), why not ask people who might have some less predictable suggestions? Google? Wikipedia? Flickr? Ooh, never heard of *those.*
This is fantastic! I have two questions, how do I change the default color scheme? I change the tab colors to blue, for example, but then clicking on that “OrangeRed” square just loads the buttons that I can change to blue.
I would also like to know how much it would cost to remove the footer text (”E-Storage+ theme designed by Web Hosting Geeks.”).

“Some worry that a document format controlled by Microsoft, as opposed to a standards body, could make it difficult for organizations to exchange data, or to access older data at a later date.”
I don’t know. Of course it can be done. Any CMS can be extended to a point where it can serve various purposes. But WordPress is first and foremost a great blogging package. A great, but specialized piece of equipment. I made another decision. I preferred Joomla for my main website and then I tried out the JoomlaBlog tool. It didn’t work for me either. It was way easier (and more powerful) to setup Joomla as the front end package and wrap WordPress into it. That way I could use the strength of both, instead of compromising one for the other.

hi there - Love the theme. My only question regards the footer. I understand it’s encrypted, but then how am I supposed to add my google analytic info properly? I’ve read you are supposed to insert the analytic code snippet in the footer.php file, immediately before the tag - but if i can’t see the code, how can i do this?
This is telling you that the element (Search textbox) under the cursor is an INPUT tag, it has a tag ID=idSearchString, it has a tag NAME=SearchString, and it is modified by the following four classes in this order

I dont like this theme, its not very easy to change(like changing the images in sites.php ??)
And it has very much encrypted code in it, I dont like that because it could be malware.
Looks very nice, only just not compatible enough.. sorry.

Ok, you’ve got a point there. Later on i got the slider working so therefore i take back my last comment about the slider.
I dont like encrypted footers because it forces you to use one footer. I rather add a link in the blogroll which has te same linkbuilding effect..
I didn’t know the website kaspersky..but it seems a good way to check it.
Thanks for the work on this theme, I’ll give it another try.
Great theme, never seen any better for free, im definatelly using it for one of my sites.
Huge thanks
One more question Roger, how do you edit the text “SITES OF THE WEEK” above the slider?
SomeDutch, search on line 8 of index.php, the h2 tag must remained, else browsers may display the text in a large and bold font.
I love this template, just trying to learn how to use it. Is it possible to show an image in a post on the FRONT PAGE? If it is please show me how
Thanks ~ le3on9

This theme’s sidebar cannot be viewed correctly when using the Safari Browser (mac).
Instead of it displaying on the top right side as it should - it is all the way on the bottom right of the page.
The them is ok on Firefox Mozilla. Any idea how to fix viewing problem for this themew with Safari????
One other question…if you dont mind. When I add a widget to the sidebar through the admin panel for wordpress, this makes the sidebar with the Color Scheme, Featured News and Featured Video not appear on the sidebar.
How do I fix this? Does this mean that if I add additional widgets on the sidebar the ones listed above wont work?
Anyone know how to fix this? So that I can use the above and also add more widgets to the sidebar…
I like the theme very much. I am new with coding and stuff that’s why I think it’s a little complicated for me. I just want to appreciate your effort.
Thanks a lot for giving such a wonderful theme free - that’s the best point -
Have a nice day!
PS: I will give it a try for sure when I get to know how coding thing works.
Look forward to seeing the progress !
I LOVE the layout on this page:
http://www.zinruss.com/demo234/
Is there a page already in the theme for this or is it a custom? The part I’m talking about is double column of boxes for the posts on the left side. I love it and I haven’t seen a template page for it in the theme.
I might be missing this stuff because I tried using it on an existing site. Perhaps one needs to use this for a new site instead?
Thank you.
Absolutely love it!
Great job and thank you so much for offering it for free. You are gifted and have thought of everything. I did find changing the code hard, but that’s simply because I’m dim witted when it comes to php
but I got through it!
Yeah, I mean you. lol.
woot!
Roger, I love this theme. I have a few questions.
Thank you.

great theme. love the functions it can perform. just trying to learn it. Any more great themes like this?
I have just downloaded it. thks! nice theme. I do not have the color changer in my blog. Is it just me or I have done something wrong??
I fixed the IE6 problem with the columns (finally). Just edit the following in the CSS:
Search for this field:
#content .postindex {
Then edit the following:
margin: 0px 3px 6px 3px;
change this into:
margin: 0px 2px 5px 2px;
Save the CSS and the problem of the columns in IE6 is fixed.
BAD BAD BAD IDEA TO USE THIS SCRIPT.
Acutally, it looks like he copied source codes from “Zinmag Futura theme” developed by
@SomeDutch
Does that fox work for both ie and firefox?
and what about IE7?
Thank you for make good theme

your Monochrome theme is perfect, i just don’t get it why you guys ask the link to stay when some chap is ready
Thanks for the nice theme, I will use this theme for: http://www.wallpapers2k.com

It’s better to pay couple of dollars and have all files inhouse.

nice site thenk you
I agree that there is too much to do and too little time to do it in the area of social recreation software.
Google? Wikipedia? Flickr? Ooh, never heard of *those.*
merci
This is fantastic! I have two questions, how do I change the default color scheme? I change the tab colors to blue, for example, but then clicking on that “OrangeRed” square just loads the buttons that I can change to blue.

Thanks for all

hi there - Love the theme. My only question regards the footer. I understand it’s encrypted, but then how am I supposed to add my google analytic info properly? I’ve read you are supposed to insert the analytic code snippet in the footer.php file, immediately before the tag - but if i can’t see the code, how can i do this?
