I had done a clean install and had copied the functions.php as well as the includes contents from the RidZine theme to the DerekJ's theme. As far as I can tell this does not fix the categories menu issue. When clicking on the categories menu links it just directs you back to the home page. The prior comments from Suresh had included code to copy and paste but thats not needed since the fix is already done when you copy the files from one theme to another.
